Author Guidelines

The Journal of Emerging Paradigms in Computing Systems (JEPCS) considers for publication original and unpublished manuscripts that are not under consideration elsewhere. The journal welcomes high-quality theoretical, experimental, methodological, and applied research across contemporary and emerging areas of computing.

Authors should carefully review these guidelines and the journal's Publication Ethics policy before submitting a manuscript.

Manuscript Types

JEPCS accepts the following types of contributions:

  • Research Articles - original theoretical, experimental, methodological, or applied research.

  • Review Articles - critical and structured reviews of established or emerging research areas.

  • Survey Articles - comprehensive surveys, taxonomies, classifications, and comparative analyses.

  • Short Communications - concise reports of significant findings, emerging concepts, or preliminary but substantial results.

  • Editorials - perspectives, thematic introductions, journal announcements, or policy statements, normally invited or submitted by the editorial team.

Authorship

All individuals listed as authors must satisfy the journal's authorship criteria.

Each author must have:

  • Made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the reported work.

  • Participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  • Provided final approval of the version submitted for publication.

  • Agreed to be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the work and for addressing questions related to their contribution.

The corresponding author must confirm that all listed co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and have consented to its submission to JEPCS.

Ghost authorship, honorary authorship, gift authorship, plagiarism, and deliberate misrepresentation of authorship are strictly prohibited. Confirmed violations may result in rejection, withdrawal of acceptance, correction, or retraction, as appropriate.

Contributors who do not satisfy the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately rather than listed as authors.

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must include a clear justification and agreement from all affected authors.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be written in clear and professional English and submitted in an editable document format.

A typical manuscript should contain:

  1. Title

  2. Author names and affiliations

  3. Corresponding author information

  4. Abstract

  5. Keywords

  6. Introduction

  7. Related Work or Literature Review, where appropriate

  8. Methodology / System Model / Materials and Methods

  9. Results and Discussion

  10. Conclusion

  11. Data Availability Statement

  12. Competing Interests

  13. Funding Statement, where applicable

  14. Acknowledgments, where applicable

  15. References

The structure may be adjusted where appropriate for Review Articles, Survey Articles, Short Communications, and Editorials.

Manuscript Templates

Authors should prepare their manuscripts using the official JEPCS manuscript templates.

Authors should follow the structure, formatting, heading styles, figure and table presentation, reference style, and other instructions provided in the selected template.

The journal template should not be modified in a manner that affects readability, consistency, or the required manuscript structure.

Author Information

Author information should be included in the submitted manuscript.

For each author, provide:

  • full name;

  • institutional affiliation;

  • department or faculty, where applicable;

  • city and country;

  • email address; and

  • ORCID identifier, where available.

One author must be clearly identified as the corresponding author.

JEPCS follows a single-anonymous peer-review model. Author identities are visible to reviewers, while reviewer identities remain confidential.

Abstract and Keywords

Research Articles, Review Articles, and Survey Articles should include an abstract of no more than 250 words.

Short Communications should include an abstract of no more than 200 words.

The abstract should concisely describe the research problem or motivation, methodology or approach, principal findings, and main conclusion or contribution.

Authors should provide 4–7 keywords representing the main concepts, methods, technologies, or application areas addressed in the manuscript.

Figures, Tables, and Equations

Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively, cited in the manuscript text, and accompanied by clear and informative captions.

Figures must be of sufficient quality for publication, and all labels and text should remain readable at normal publication size.

Equations should be presented clearly and numbered where referenced elsewhere in the manuscript. Symbols and variables should be defined when first introduced.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted figures, tables, or other third-party material where required.

References

JEPCS uses a numbered reference style suitable for computing and engineering research.

References should be numbered according to their first appearance in the manuscript and cited using square brackets, for example:

[1], [2], [3]–[5]

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all references are accurate and complete.

Where applicable, references should include author names, title, publication source, volume, issue, page range or article number, publication year, and DOI.

DOIs should be included whenever available.

Excessive self-citation, irrelevant citations, and attempts to manipulate citation metrics are not permitted.

Originality and Plagiarism

Submitted manuscripts must contain original scholarly work and must not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

Manuscripts may be screened using similarity-detection software.

JEPCS applies the following similarity requirements:

  • Overall similarity must be less than 15%.

  • Similarity from any single source must not exceed 5%.

Authors must appropriately acknowledge all text, ideas, figures, tables, algorithms, methods, datasets, software, and other material derived from existing sources.

Manuscripts exceeding the journal's similarity requirements may be returned for correction or rejected depending on the nature and extent of the overlap.

Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Writing

Authors may use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation, but all substantive use must be transparently disclosed.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, references, data, analyses, and conclusions of the submitted work.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Routine spelling, grammar, formatting, and reference-management tools do not require disclosure.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, identifiable personal data, animals, or other activities requiring ethical approval must comply with applicable ethical requirements.

Where appropriate, authors should report the approving ethics committee or institutional body, approval/reference number, informed-consent information, and relevant privacy or confidentiality safeguards.

Fabrication, falsification, inappropriate manipulation of data or images, and deliberate misrepresentation of research findings are strictly prohibited.

Data and Source Code

JEPCS encourages authors to make research data, source code, experimental configurations, trained models, scripts, and other supporting research materials publicly accessible when legally, ethically, and practically possible.

Manuscripts should include a Data Availability Statement describing where the supporting data are available or explaining any applicable restrictions.

Competing Interests

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other interests that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research.

Where no competing interests exist, authors should state:

The authors declare no competing interests.

Funding

All sources of research funding should be disclosed.

Where applicable, authors should provide the name of the funding organization and grant number.

If no external funding was received, authors may state:

This research received no external funding.

Conference Papers and Preprints

An extended journal version of a previously published conference paper may be considered if it contains substantial additional scholarly contribution.

Authors must disclose and cite the original conference publication and clearly identify the additional contributions provided in the journal manuscript.

Substantial extensions may include additional methodology, theoretical analysis, experiments, datasets, implementation, results, or discussion.

Posting a manuscript as a preprint does not automatically prevent consideration by JEPCS, provided that the preprint is disclosed during submission.

Peer Review

Research Articles, Review Articles, Survey Articles, and Short Communications normally undergo single-anonymous peer review.

Under this model, reviewers can see the names and affiliations of the authors, while reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.

Manuscripts considered suitable for external review are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers.

Editorial decisions are based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, methodological rigor, quality of evaluation, clarity of presentation, and compliance with journal policies.

Revised Manuscripts

When a revision is requested, authors should submit the revised manuscript together with a detailed response explaining how each editor and reviewer comment has been addressed.

Where authors disagree with a reviewer comment, a clear and scholarly justification should be provided.

Article Processing Charges

Current Article Processing Charge (APC): USD 0

JEPCS provides a 100% APC waiver during the inaugural launch period.

Manuscripts submitted before publication of Volume 1, Issue 1 will not be charged a submission fee, peer-review fee, or publication fee if subsequently accepted for publication.

Any publication charges applicable to future submissions will be stated clearly on the journal website.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright in their work and grant JEPCS the right of first publication.

Articles published in JEPCS are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits sharing, redistribution, adaptation, and reuse of the published material provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and publication.

Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should confirm that:

  • the manuscript falls within the Aims & Scope of JEPCS;

  • the official JEPCS manuscript template has been followed;

  • the work is original and unpublished;

  • the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere;

  • all authors satisfy the journal's authorship requirements;

  • all authors have approved the manuscript and its submission;

  • author names, affiliations, and corresponding-author information are complete;

  • the abstract complies with the applicable word limit;

  • 4–7 keywords have been provided;

  • figures and tables are clear and properly cited;

  • references are accurate and include DOIs where available;

  • overall similarity is below 15% and similarity from a single source does not exceed 5%;

  • funding and competing interests have been disclosed;

  • ethical approval is reported where applicable;

  • a Data Availability Statement has been included;

  • conference papers and preprints have been disclosed where applicable; and

  • the manuscript complies with the JEPCS Publication Ethics policy.
